$ 575.00 USD

Cleaned, Lubricated & Adjusted. Ready for immediate use!

This is a very lovely medium format camera that folds out to create beautiful 6x6 exposures on a 120 roll film. Bright exposures alive with all the vivid details, rich colors and superb tonal range that only medium format can provide. When it comes to photography, bigger is better and this camera will produce a negative that’s more than four times larger than the average 35mm snapshot. It you’re interested in lovely colors, fine grain, beautiful rendering and high details, then this is the camera for you.

This is a freshly serviced postwar example of the famous Super Ikonta B produced by Zeiss-Ikon in Stuttgart Germany. The quality of construction and finish makes it one of the best folding cameras ever built. Simply put, if you’re looking for the best classic folder ever made, then you’ve found it…

 This is the final version with the best lens and shutter combination, a “T” coated Tessar lens and Synchro-Compur shutter. It’s constructed of precision die-cast metal, covered with fine Moroccan leather and trimmed in handsome black lacquer and chrome. It has a built in coupled rangefinder that never leaves you guessing about the distance or the focus.

 It’s equipped with a top quality Synchro-Compur shutter and fitted with a fast, sharp Carl Zeiss 2.8/80mm Tessar lens. It also has a sophisticated film advance mechanism that counts the exposures for you and automatically stops when you’ve wound far enough. In use this means all you have to do is take a shot, advance the film until it stops and you’re already for another one. You won’t be slowed down by the need to look for exposure numbers through a red ruby window.

 The camera has been carefully Cleaned, Lubricated and Adjusted. It’s in superb condition and it will give you many years of fine service. (Please see photos.) The real leather bellows are supple and light tight. The coupled rangefinder/viewfinder has been cleaned and it’s clean and bright. (Not hazy like the average Super Ikonta.) The rangefinder image is very easy to see and it focuses smoothly and accurately. I should mention that the uncoupled selenium light-meter works but as is always the case, it’s no longer accurate. (Selenium solar cells were not designed to last 50 years.) So we recommend using a modern handheld light-meter. Shutter speeds and aperture controls are set manually and are easy to adjust.

The coated Zeiss lens looks like virtually like new. There are no scratches, no cleaning marks. The glass is clean & clear with no fungus, separated elements, crystallization or other problems and it’s capable of producing beautiful photos. The top of the line Synchro-Compur shutter works smoothly and all speeds (B & 1 sec - 1/500th) are appropriate. The shutter has been tested and works with a normal electronic flash. It will fire correctly at any desired shutter speed. (This is of course very convenient for flash fill.)

 It comes complete with a used brown leather case.

 All in all, a beautiful camera. Load it with your favorite film and keep it handy for that perfect shot you’ve been looking for. You know the one... the one with the perfect Ansel Adams light breaking through the dark storm clouds that leaves you wishing that you had a medium format camera with you.
