This lovely plate camera was built in prewar Germany and can be used with the included film back to shoot lovely 6x9 photos on 120 roll film.  The camera in in excellent condition. It doesn’t have a brand name but it’s obvious that it was an expensive camera when it was new. The controls are well thought out, build quality is excellent and everything works as it should. 

The shutter has been carefully cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. All shutter speeds (T, B, 1 sec – 1/250th) are appropriate. The slow speeds buzz along smoothly and the faster speeds are clean and snappy. 

This camera features a beautiful Schneider-Kreuznach f3.8/ 10.5cm (105mm) lens mounted in a Compur shutter. The Xenar is a superb lens nearly identical in design and performance to the Zeiss Tessar with four elements in three groups. The serial number of the Xenar lens (368418) indicates that it was produced in Germany in 1930. The lens looks virtually like new. The glass is clean and clear, no scratches, no cleaning marks and it’s capable of producing lovely photos with modern color and B&W films. 

It comes with a Rollex-Patent film back, and two plate holders. (Which I forgot to photograph)

All in all a lovely fully functional vintage camera. Perfect for photographers with a historical interest who want to work with a prewar camera regularly. Load it with your favorite film and keep it handy for that perfect shot you’ve been looking for. You know the one... the one with the perfect Ansel Adams light breaking through the dark storm clouds that leaves you wishing you had a classic camera with you.
