Petrakla Classic Cameras
Custom Petrakla Film Spool 1949-1962 Contax & Pentacon SLR Cameras (1 spool).
These are film spools specifically designed to fit the postwar Contax & Pentacon SLR cameras produced in Dresden Germany. These cameras were produced between 1949 and 1962. They represent an original design that’s often regarded as the first 35mm SLR cameras available to the general public.
One of the recurrent problems for owners of these cameras is finding an appropriate film take up spool. A spool is of course necessary if you actually want to use it. However, because they’re removable, they’re often missing when you finally manage to acquire one of these collectable cameras. They have a specific size and shape and finding a suitable original replacement can be difficult.
Now all that is a thing of the past because we’ve designed an easy-to-use 3D printed replacement spool which will fit the Contax S, D, E & F. They will also fit the Pentacon F, FB & FBM cameras which were basically the same cameras with a different name. These cameras all featured removeable spools and should not be confused with Contax SLR’s produced in Japan.
It's easy to use, just insert the film leader into the narrow slot in the spool, give it a twist and you're ready to load it into the camera. We have these 3-D printed spools in a variety of colors. Black & Grey look right at home in these cameras. However we also have them in Red so that it’s easier to find if you drop it, and Gold tone for owners interested in adding some subtle bling to the inside of the camera.
Whichever you choose, they all work quick and easy. You simply insert the film into the narrow slot of the spool give it a twist, insert it into the camera and you’re good to go.
