Near Mint! 1952 6x6 Voigtlander Perkeo with desirable Coated Color-Skopar Lens, CLA’d, Freshly Serviced
Cleaned, Lubricated & Adjusted. Ready for immediate use
This is a very lovely Voigtlander Perkeo 6x6 camera built in 1952 or early 1953. Its performance and build quality makes it very popular with owners, users and collectors. It’s also one of the smallest 6x6 camera ever made. Smaller than many 35mm cameras, it fits easily into a jacket pocket, yet it folds out to take 16 beautiful 6x4.5 exposures on a 120 roll film. Each exposure alive with all the details, the rich tonal gradations, the lovely colors, that only medium format can provide. When it comes to photography bigger is better and this camera produces a negative that’s more than three times larger than the average 35mm snapshot. The results are very fine grain, rich tonal values and lovely colors.
This Voigtlander Perkeo is in exceptionally fine condition. (Please see photos.) Everything works as it should because it’s been carefully cleaned, lubricated & adjusted. The bellows are supple and light tight. The shutter works well and all speeds (B & 1 sec - 1/300th) are appropriate. The slow speeds buzz along nicely and the fast ones are clean and snappy. This shutter is flash synched and it works with a normal electronic flash. It’s been tested and a flash will fire correctly at any desired shutter speed. (This is of course a very convenient feature for flash fill.)
The coated lens is the famous f3.5/80mm Color-Skopar. (A superb four element design nearly identical in design and performance to the Zeiss Tessar.) There are no scratches, just a few light cleaning wisps (but you’ll need a magnifier to see it) The lens is exceptionally clean. There are no separated elements, crystallization or other problems and it’s capable of producing lovely photos with modern color and B&W films.
It comes complete with a used original brown leather Voigtlander camera case.
All in all, a wonderful freshly serviced camera that will never give you a reason to leave it at home. It’s the perfect photographic companion for that perfect shot. You know the one… the one with the Ansel Adams light breaking through the dark storm clouds that leaves you wishing had a classic medium format camera with you.
