This small lovely Ikonta camera was produced by Zeiss-Ikon in Dresden Germany before the war. It ranks as one of the smallest 6x4.5 medium format cameras ever produced and easily slips into a pockets. It uses normal 120 film to produce lovely 6x4.5 negatives and it was the little sister to the Super Ikonta A. The only difference is that this model doesn’t have a rangefinder which contributes to its slightly smaller size. Other than that, it features the same wonderful build quality and excellent performance.

The camera in this listing is in superb condition. Additionally it’s been carefully cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. The quality Compur shutter works smoothly and all speeds (B & 1 sec - 1/300th) are appropriate. The slow speeds buzz along smoothly and the faster ones are clean and snappy. The lens has been cleaned inside and out and focus is smooth and accurate.

The lens is a fast f3.5/7cm (70mm) Novar lens, which is a classic Cooke design with three elements in three groups. It’s well known for the attractive rendition and bokeh it produces. This Zeiss lens has an excellent reputation in Europe for its lovely bokeh and its soft smooth backgrounds. The glass is in exceptionally fine condition. There are no scratches, no cleaning marks and it’s capable of producing lovely photos with modern color & B&W films. (As with all prewar lenses, we recommend keeping the light behind you for optimal performance.)

It comes complete with an original Zeiss brown leather case

All in all, a lovely little classic camera. Load it with your favorite film and keep it handy for that perfect shot you’ve been looking for. You know the one... the one with the perfect Ansel Adams light breaking through the dark storm clouds that leaves you wishing you had a classic medium format camera with you.
