1925 Ica Icarette II, 6x9 German folding camera with Carl Zeiss Tessar lens. Freshly Serviced, CLA’d

$ 295.00 USD

Cleaned, Lubricated & Adjusted. Ready for immediate use!

This is a 6x9 Ica Icarette produced in Germany in circa 1925. Originally designed and produced by Ica, Ica merged with three other camera manufacturers (Contessa-Nettel, Ernemann & Goez) to form the new Zeiss-Ikon company in 1926. Ica had a well-earned reputation for the quality of its designs, as well as the fit and finish of its products. Unfortunately the Ica plant was not destined to survive WWII. The factory was destroyed in the intense bombing of Dresden in February of 1945.

This 99 year old camera is one of the last cameras to leave the original Ica plant. This top of the line Icarette model was introduced in 1925 and used 120 roll-film, as well as 6.5×9cm plate film. The camera in this listing is fitted with back with an orange counter window with a sliding cover and pressure plate for 120 roll film. Naturally if you have other accessories in your collection these can be fitted as well.

The camera also features rising front movement, double extension bellows and rack and pinion focusing.

This camera has been carefully serviced and is ready for immediate use. It’s covered with real leather and it’s complete with its lovely, original wire frame viewfinder. The quality dial set Compur shutter works smoothly and all speeds (B, T, & 1 sec - 1/250th) are appropriate. The slow speeds buzz along smoothly and the fast speeds are clean and snappy.

The lens is a famous Carl Zeiss f4.5/10.5 cm (105mm) Tessar. This is a fine quality four element lens and was only found on expensive cameras. This lens is identical to those used on the legendary Super Ikonta, so you can rest assured that this nearly 100 year old camera is capable of producing truly beautiful photos.

The Zeiss Tessar lens is in exceptionally fine condition. It’s clean and clear and looks virtually new. There are no scratches or cleaning marks and it’s capable of producing lovely photos with modern color and black & white films.

All in all, a very lovely vintage camera. Load it with your favorite film and go out and find that perfect photo you’ve been looking for. You know the one… the one with the Ansel Adams light breaking through the dark storm clouds that leaves you wishing had a vintage camera with you.
