If you’re familiar with the Rolleiflex and Rolleicord cameras you’ll know that they’re considered a cult classic by many fans. It’s a 6x6 TLR camera that uses 120 roll film. It was the camera of choice by pros for many decades and even today it’s a camera often mentioned by websites as an excellent way to get into medium format photography. It’s a wonderful design that just like Leica, inspired countless copies over numerous decades.

The camera in this listing is about as good as it gets. It’s a near mint  Rolleiflex from my personal collection. It’s been carefully serviced and it’ll give you many years of pleasure. The serial number on top of this camera (1492563) indicates that it was produced in Germany in 1955. Nearly 70 years after it left the factory it still looks virtually new and works beautifully. It’s one of the nicest I’ve ever seen and I think you’d be hard pressed to find a finer example.

This Rolleiflex is fitted with a Synchro-Compur shutter. Its works well and all speeds (T,B, 1 Sec-1/500th) are appropriate. The slow speeds buzz along smoothly and the faster ones are clean and snappy. Focusing is smooth and accurate. The film advance and film counter works correctly.

The coated Carl Zeiss 3.5/75mm Tessar lens is in superb condition. The lens is clean and clear. There are no scratches, just some light cleaning wisps (but you’ll need a magnifier to see them) and it’s capable of producing very lovely photos with modern color and black & white films.

It comes complete with an original brown leather case with strap, a Rollei lens cap and a small Rollei accessory case containing a lens hood and two filters (red & yellow)

All in all, a very enjoyable vintage camera. Load it with your favorite film and keep it handy for that perfect shot you’ve been looking for. You know the one... the one with the perfect Ansel Adams light breaking through the dark storm clouds that leaves you wishing that you had a classic Rolleiflex with you.
