Original Leitz Leica IIIg leather camera case, will also fit the IIIf & IIIc
The Leica IIIg was the last iteration of the wonderful Leica screw mount cameras and was produced between 1956-1960. It was very similar to the Leica IIIf & IIIc, the only significant external difference was that it had a larger viewfinder. The case in this listing is designed to fit the IIIg but of course will also accommodate the IIIf and IIIc.
I should point out that these camera cases were sold with two different size screws, which screwed into the base plate under the camera and held them securely. These base plates had either a smaller ¼ screw thread (which is almost universally used now) or a larger 3/8th thread.
The camera case in this listing has the harder to find, larger screw.
This case is in beautiful condition. The leather is in good shape and has an attractive patina. The stitching is in good shape too, as is the leather strap that comes with it. The purple velvet lining is especially nice too and will do a good job of protecting you Leica during transport and storage.
All in all, an excellent camera case if you’re lucky enough to own this camera.
