Cleaned, Lubricated & Adjusted. Ready for immediate use

This is a Voigtlander Superb TLR from and it’s the desirable “big ears” model (large unique camera strap mounts) which many collectors want. This early version was only available for approximately one year. Introduced the same year as the legendary Voigtlander Prominent rangefinder camera, the Superb shares many of the goals, philosophy and manufacturing techniques displayed in the Prominent. Voigtlander explored a serious alternative design for the 6x6 Rolleiflex and then created this heavy duty Über Kamera. The body is die-cast alloy. Film moves horizontally rather than vertically (as in in Rolleiflex). To adjust for viewfinder parallax, the top lens moves forward and down when the camera is close focused. Among the interesting features, the shutter speed dial is engraved in reverse (mirrored) so that it will appear correctly when viewed from above through a small prism. It’s a substantial camera and it weighs quite a bit more than a classic Rolleiflex.

Some 84 years after it was produced, this Voigtlander Super is in lovely condition. So, if you’ve been looking for a prewar camera to work with, you may have just found it. It’s impressive, it’s significant and it works well.

This camera has been carefully cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. The Compur shutter works well and all speeds (1 Sec-1/250th) are appropriate. The slow speeds buzz along nicely and the faster ones are clean and snappy.

The Voigtlander Skopar 3.5/7,5 cm (75mm) lens is in great condition. The Skopar is a classic design with four elements in three groups. This lens is very clean and clear. There are no separated elements, crystallization or other defects. There are no scratches, just a few cleaning wisps (but you’ll need a magnifier to see them) and it’s capable of producing lovely photos with modern color and B&W film.
