Rare! 1940 CERTO Super Sport Dolly,, CLA'd, Freshly Serviced!

$ 295.00 USD

Cleaned, Lubricated & Adjusted. Ready for immediate use

This is a rare  Super Sport Dolly produced by the Certo Kamera Company which ws located in Dresden, Germany. It’s a folding medium format camera which uses 120 roll film

There were two versions of this model. The first was from 1934 -1939. The second was from 1939 - 1942 which included some subtle changes such as a shutter release on the body. This indicates that the camera in this was produced between 1939 and 1942.

These cameras are sought after by collectors and clean working examples are few and far between. These models were designed as dual format cameras. This one is currently set up for  6x6. (It can also produce 6x4.5 if you have the correct reduction mask in your collection.)

As with all our cameras, this one’s been carefully serviced. Everything else works as it should. The top of the line Compur-Rapid shutter was the very best shutter of its era and it’s been cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. The shutter works smoothly and all speeds (B, T & 1 sec - 1/400th) are appropriate. The slow speeds buzz along nicely and the fast speeds are clean and snappy. The bellows are completely light tight.

The lens is a relatively f3.5/7.5 cm (75mm) Friedrich München Corygon Anastigmat.  The design of this lens is based on a classic Cooke design (three elements in three groups). It’s well known for its very pleasing rendering and a nicely rounded attractive bokeh. The lens is very clean. There are no separated elements, crystallization or other problems. There are no scratches or cleaning marks and it’s capable of producing lovely photos with modern color and black & white film.

Here's a link to some sample photos taken with an identical lens:

All in all a lovely, hard to find camera. The perfect 6x6 companion for photographers with a historical interest.
