1936 Leitz Elmar 3.5/50mm Elmar lens
For Leica screw mount bodies.
This is a 3.5/50mm Leitz Elmar lens which can be used on all Leica screw mount bodies (as well as Canon, Bessa and other Leica copies). Additionally it can also be used on the later Leica M models if you have an adapter.
The serial number 293208 indicates that it was produced in Germany in 1936. The lens is in excellent condition given its age and the fact that it managed to survive WWII here in Europe. This is a great lens if you you’ve been looking for an authentic lens for your prewar or wartime Leica. Over all the lens is in excellent condition. It mounts onto a camera easily, focuses smoothly and the aperture adjustment tab moves smoothly as well. The glass is clean and clear. There are no scratches, just some usual light cleaning wisps and it’s capable of producing lovely photos on modern color and B&W films. (As with all prewar lenses we recommend keeping the sun to your back for best performance.)
All in all, a sharp, compact lens with that special Leica character that will perfectly compliment your classic Leica camera.
