Superb early Leitz 50mm Nickel Elmar Screw mount lens. - Leitz- Petrakla Classic Cameras

Leitz

Superb early Leitz 50mm Nickel Elmar Screw mount lens.

$ 395.00 USD

For the Leica II, III, IIIa, IIIc, IIIf & IIIg

In this auction we have a very early 3.5/50mm Elmar lens in the very desirable nickel finish, serial number 73388. This is the correct lens for early prewar Leica screw mount cameras because the nickel finish of the lens perfectly matches the nickel plated knobs and controls of these cameras. (Later Elmar lenses are chrome plated, which looks colder and does not have the same warm glow that nickel does.)

The 3,5/50mm Elmar lens is the classic choice for Leica screw mount cameras and famed for its very convenient size and the lovely rendering it produces in photos. It works well on any Leica screw mount camera regardless of vintage.

It can be used on all Leica screw mount bodies as well such as Canon and Bessa. It can also be used on the later Leica M models if you have an adapter (which is easy to find on eBay).  Additionally they are also popular for use on the new generation of mirrorless digital cameras.

Cosmetically most collectors will agree it is a very fine example. It certainly looks lovely on a vintage black Leica. The glass is very clean and clear, and very surprising for a lens this old, there are no scratches or cleaning marks. The focus and aperture settings move smoothly and it’s capable of producing lovely photos with modern color and b&w films.

All in all, a true classic lens with that special Leica character that will perfectly compliment your classic Leica.
