Cleaned, Lubricated & Adjusted. Ready for immediate use!

This is a Gomz Sputnik Stereo camera which according my literature was produced in circa 1955. I’ve been collecting vintage cameras for some 50 years and I’ve owned and used many classic rangefinders over the years but I also have a soft spot for unusual or quirky cameras. This camera is one of them and it’s from my personal collection which I’m currently reducing in size.

This camera uses 120 roll film to produce two 6x6 stereo negatives. However many owners aren’t aware that it can also be used just like a normal TLR to produce a single 6x6 negative, which make it surprisingly versatile. (Simply place a lens cap over one of the lenses and use a different number sequence with the red counter window.)

This Sputnik camera is in near mint condition and has been carefully cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. Everything works as it should.  The viewfinder is clean and clear, it’s easy to use and never leaves you guessing about distance or focus. The shutters work smoothly and all speeds are appropriate.

The coated lens are based on the classic Cooke triplet and features three lens elements in three groups. This design is well known for its lovely rendering. Stopped down they’re very sharp. But in addition to this they also produce very lovely photos when shot wide open and focused close. In the case of the latter, focus rolls off gently and the background bokeh has a lovely soft rounded look to it.

The lenses are exceptionally clean and looks virtually new. There are no scratches, no cleaning marks and it’s capable of producing beautiful photos with modern color & B&W film.

It comes with a lovely original  camera case.

All in all an enjoyable addition to your collection.
