This is the rare giant II camera which was designed to produce a large 8.5x14 centimeter negatives on a large format roll-film. Its specially designed back could also accommodate 9x12 plate film (approximately 4x5 inches). Sought after by folding camera collectors because of impressive size, there are also photographers who are eager to convert them into panorama cameras.

This camera comes from my personal collection and I had intended to convert it to accept 120 film. However I have too many cameras and too little time to shoot everything I have, so it’s time to pass it onto someone else.

This camera is in excellent condition. The bellows are supple and completely light tight. Additionally the shutter’s been carefully cleaned, lubricated and adjusted.  The quality Compur shutter works as it should. The slow speeds buzz along very smoothly and the fast speeds are clean and snappy. All speeds (T, B & 1 sec - 1/200th) are appropriate.

It’s fitted with a Voigtlander f4.5/15 cm (150mm) Skopar lens. A superb design with four elements in three groups. The lens is exceptionally clean and looks virtually like new. It’s clean and clear. There are no scratches or cleaning marks and it’s capable of producing very lovely photos with modern color & B&W film.

All in all it’s a lovely gem of a camera. A perfect addition to your collection. Or mount its lens and shutter on your 4x5 field camera. Either way a lovely companion in the hunt for that perfect photo. You know the one… the one with the Ansel Adams light breaking through the dark storm cloud.
